Zapadnye MES branch of KEGOC was established in September 1998 

The head of the branch is Konstantin Chernokhayev

The core activities of the branch are:

• Transmission of power and electricity in electric networks from the busbars of substations and electric power plants in the amount and in accordance with the operation modes specified by NDC SO;

• Development of the optimal electric network topology in terms of reliability and efficiency.

The area of operations of Zapadnye MES (Atyrau) covers Atyrau and Mangistau oblasts and has no direct electrical connections with the Kazakhstan UPS. Power sources: Mangyshlak Nuclear Power Complex (MAEC), including Aktau CHPP-1, CHPP-2 and CHPP-3 (GRES); Atyrau CHPP, a regional power plant, KUS (Karabatan Utility Solutions), a local power plant; TCO industrial power plants (GTPP-1, 2, 3), Kashagan NCOC, CHPP of Atyrau Oil Refinery JSC, KazAzot JSC, Kalamkas GRES MangistauMunaiGas, renewable energy sources: Group Independet PVPP, RMK wind farm,  VetroEnergoTekhnologii wind farm.

The property of the branch includes 6-330 kV overhead power lines with a total length of 1681.5 km (in circuits), as well as 5 substations of 220 kV, with a total capacity of 982 MVA (in 2020, two voltage regulating transformers, type LTMN-16000/110/10, 16 MVA each, were installed at 220 kV Beineu substation).
