On 14 August an extended meeting of the Modernisation Council of Samruk-Kazyna was held chaired by Akhmetzhan Yessimov, the chair of the management board of Samruk Kazyna
The event was also attended by Askar Zhumagaliyev, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the CEOs and transformation teams of portfolio companies connected via video conference.
The CEOs of the portfolio companies presented updated portfolios of business digitalization projects and activities under the Samruk Kazyna’s Transformation Programme. Minister Zhumagaliyev praised the digital transformation progress attained by the national companies, and spoke about the current status of the "Digital Kazakhstan” national programme, which included 16 projects of the national companies.
Among such projects is KEGOC’s project for “Automation of grid state management of the Unified Electric Power System of Kazakhstan”. The project is large-scale and consists of three components: the implementation of a centralized emergency control system, an automatic frequency and power control system, and a WAMS / WACS synchrophasor-based monitoring and control system.
According to Bakytzhan Kazhiyev, CEO of KEGOC, the digitalization of the power system will enable the company to more efficiently use the available generating capacities, increase the transmission capacity of the networks, and also weaken the dependence of the power system of Kazakhstan on the peaking capacities in Russia.
The updated KEGOC’s portfolio consists of 6 projects and the same number of events that will be considered at the next meeting of the Board of Directors of the company on 26 August 2019.
