Significant contribution to industrial decarbonisation will be made smart energy grids

On 12 May 2022, Nur-Sultan hosted the Kazakh-German Business Forum titled "Development of German-Kazakh economic cooperation - opportunities and prospects in the field of high technology, green economy and logistics" with the participation of Roman Sklar, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. The leitmotif of the event, which was attended by about 250 delegates, was the development of Kazakh-German economic cooperation in the field of high technology, green economy, and logistics.

During a business forum organised by KAZAKH INVEST, the Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) and Siemens LLP signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The signing ceremony was attended by Elvira Konahbaeva, Managing Director for Strategy and Sustainable Development of KEGOC, and Diyas Assanov, Director of Siemens LLP.

This memorandum consolidated the ongoing cooperation between the companies in developing and implementing innovative solutions for the transition to digital substations, which will significantly decrease operating costs and increase the transparency of energy infrastructure systems. Intellectualisation of power grids of the Republic of Kazakhstan through the introduction of energy-efficient digital solutions will make a significant contribution to achieving Kazakhstan's industry decarbonisation goals and serve as an example of effective implementation of the ESG agenda.

The Working Group on Digitalisation in Electricity Transmission, comprising representatives from KEGOC and Siemens LLP, was established pursuant to a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Government of Kazakhstan and Siemens AG on 14 February 2020.
