KEGOC and the Asian Development Bank discussed opportunities for further cooperation

Chairman of the Management Board of KEGOC JSC, Nabi Aitzhanov, held a meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), during which the parties discussed prospects for cooperation on key infrastructure projects of the company included in the National Project "Modernisation of the Energy and Utility Sectors."

The projects currently being implemented and planned are aimed at enhancing  the reliability of electricity supply and the throughput capacity of the transmission network, which will ensure the resilience of the power system and increase Kazakhstan’s transit potential.

In addition, ADB will provide technical assistance for the implementation of four KEGOC initiatives aimed at optimising the operation of flexible generation capacities to ensure power system balance in line with international best practices.

The parties noted the importance of the projects being implemented, which contribute to the development of a reliable, flexible, and modern energy infrastructure in the country, and outlined the next steps for cooperation.

It is worth noting that in 2024 a loan agreement was signed with the Asian Development Bank to finance the project on strengthening the power network of the Southern Zone of Kazakhstan’s Unified Power System.
