On October 25, 2019, the 55th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council was held in Moscow, in which the heads of the electric power management bodies and electric power companies of the CIS member states took part.
The Kazakhstan delegation was represented by Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kanat BOZUMBAYEV, Chairman of the Management Board of KEGOC, Bakytzhan KAZHIYEV, and Head of R&D and Energy efficiency management in the Operation and Technology Department of KEGOC, Nurbol NURTAZA.
Within the framework of the 55th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council, participants discussed the most pressing issues of interstate cooperation of the CIS electric power systems. In particular, the process of preparing the energy systems of the Commonwealth countries for work in the autumn-winter period 2019-2020, the need for coordinated actions in the field of digitalization of the electric power industry.
The meeting announced the results of the XVI International Competitions of Professional Skills for Electric Power Industry Personnel of the CIS Member States - International Competitions for Repair and Maintenance of 10 / 0.4 kV Distribution Networks held in September this year in the city of Kyzylorda on the basis of Kyzylorda REC JSC.
Based on the results of the meeting, a number of documents regulating the issues of metrological support, emergency response exercises and others, as well as the work plan of the CIS Electric Power Council for 2020 and a list of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the GOELRO Plan, were considered and adopted.
In addition, decisions were made to award a number of representatives of the CIS electric power systems with the honorary title of “Honored Power Engineer of the CIS”.
The CIS Electric Power Council was created in accordance with the intergovernmental Agreement on the coordination of interstate relations in the CIS electric power industry dated February 14, 1992.
The main goal of the CIS Electric Power Council is to carry out joint and coordinated actions of the Commonwealth member states in the field of electricity, aimed at ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply to the economy and the population of the Commonwealth member states based on the effective functioning of the unification of the electric power systems of the CIS member states.
