On 8 July 2016 in the city of Pavlodar, KEGOC held a public hearing regarding the amended feasibility study of the Pavlodar Electricity Transmission Reinforcement Project.
Representatives of the media, Akimat of Pavlodar Oblast, Irtysh water-basin inspection, executive bodies of Pavlodar Oblast and the city of Aksu, NGOs and other stakeholders attended the hearing. Specialists of KEGOC made a presentation of the project and provided comprehensive answers to representatives of the local community.
Pavlodar Electricity Transmission Reinforcement Project will ensure reliability of electric power supply to consumers in the city of Pavlodar and power delivery from Oblast power plants to Kazakhstan Unified Power System (UPS).
Administratively, the proposed overhead lines route shallbe built within the Pavlodar Oblast. The project facilities are not located in the specially protected natural areas. The environmental actions provided for the construction of 220 kV transmission lines and rehabilitation of transmission lines and substations expansion will minimize environmental impact.
The cost of the project is KZT 8.57 billion subject to changes in foreign exchange rate; the implementation period is 2011-2017. The planned source of funding is the funds of KEGOC.
The hearing was held in accordance with the environmental laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, based on the feasibility study and preliminary environmental impact assessment of the project.

KEGOC is the System Operator of Unified Power System of Kazakhstan, and it owns and manages the assets of the National Power Grid (NPG). The company is the natural monopoly. It owns about 24.9 thousand km of 35-1150 kV electricity transmission lines and 77 electrical substations with 36.2 GVA of installed transformer capacity. These lines and substations form the NPG.
