Information regarding connection of a digital mining farm to TsGPP substation

Regarding a digital mining farm found on 18 November 2021 by the Committee for Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan near 500 kV TsGPP substation, KEGOC reports the following.

The discovered containers with the digital mining equipment are located on the territory of Alageum Electric Astana LLP and belong to Genesis Energy qazaqstan LLP, a sub-consumer.

Alageum Electric Astana LLP is a branch of Alageum Electric JSC engaged in maintenance of 6-10 kV transformer equipment. Back in 2007 it received from KEGOC JSC technical conditions for connection to TP-1 substation at 10 kV and has been provided with power supply out in accordance with the contract and the declared capacity of 0.3 MW.

Also, KEGOC notes that in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it does not have the right to inspect business entities, including to find “gray” digital mining farms. At the same time, KEGOC is ready to provide comprehensive assistance to the authorized state bodies on this issue.

In connection with the current situation in the Unified Power System of the country, KEGOC, as the System Operator, is interested in identifying and disconnecting from the power supply of illegally operating mining farms.
