The updated Portfolio of the KEGOC transformation projects is approved

The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of KEGOC approved the updated Portfolio of the Business Transformation Programme. This is a second version of the document this year.

Earlier on 18 August, the Company had already adopted the updated project portfolio, which included new large digital projects, in particular, ‘Upgrade of Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition system (SCADA/EMS)’, ‘Modernization of substation monitoring and control systems’, ‘Replacement of Document Management System’, as well as activities ‘Researches on the use of data analysis in the operations’ and ‘Analysis of business processes in HSE’.

On 26 August a meeting of the Modernisation Council of Samruk-Kazyna JSC presented the new initiatives and updated criteria for selection of projects. The main changes related to the approaches to the formation of portfolios, namely, the focus is now on achieving maximum benefits in the short term with the least financial investment.

This was the reason for the revision of the Company's initiatives in order to reduce costs and improve the performance of the KEGOC Business Transformation Programme. As a result of the revision, the Company decided to transfer a number of projects from the Transformation Programme to operational activities.

Along with the new projects that were included in the "summer" Portfolio (SCADA/EMS, CMS, electronic document management system), the current projects of the Business Transformation Programme: ‘Implementation of an automated information management system’ and ‘Fibre Optic Communication Lines for Data Transmission’ were transferred to the operating level.

As a result of bringing a number of costly projects into business, the performance of the Company's Transformation Programme were improved. Thus, by 2028, net benefits from the implementation of optimized Portfolio initiatives are expected to be KZT 5,143 million against KZT 983 million with the previous composition of projects.

It was also noted at the meeting that the ongoing research activities may further develop into full-fledged projects and, thus, by 2024, increase the benefits from the implementation of the Business Transformation Program.
