KEGOC’s project wins second place in National Project Management Competition

KEGOC took part in the second "Qazaqstan Project Management Awards-2021" national competition with "Automation of operational mode control of the Unified Power System of Kazakhstan" project implemented in three stages as follows: "Implementation of the Centralised Emergency Control System" (CECS), "Implementation of Automatic Frequency and Power Control System" (AFCS) and "Implementation of Synchrophasor-based Monitoring and Control System (WAMS/WACS)". A detailed report on the main parameters and results of the project, a presentation and a video about the project prepared by the Process Control and Digital Transformation Department together with the project team were highly appreciated by the jury and assessors of the competition.

The Project Management Competition is held for the public and quasi-public sectors, non-governmental organisations, SMEs and higher education institutions, bringing together professionals, practitioners, managers and representatives of public organisations, companies, leading academics, teachers, professors and students, representatives of various sectors and professions, NGOs and the media.

This year the contest received 300 participation applications. The the second place in the "Best Project of 2021” nomination in the quasi-governmental sector was awarded to the project of KEGOC. The results of project selection were announced at QazPMA-2021 Forum, which also hosted master-classes of leading experts in the field of project management and professional business-trainers. At the panel session the participants also discussed current challenges and best practices of project management development.

In addition, the expert community accepted the proposals of Aigul Baiturova, Head of Change Management Unit of PCDTD, to consider the human side of change, namely the application of ADKAR model by PROSCI methodology, for more extensive engagement of stakeholders, including sponsors to improve project results. Based on the results of the discussions, the proposals and recommendations of the participants were included in the draft resolution to improve the processes of implementation of the project approach in the implementation of the National Projects of the country.
