Emergencies occurred on 07 September 2022 in electric networks of KEGOC (North-South electricity transmission)

On 07 September 2022, at 15:38, the 500 kV L-5170 Ekibastuzskaya - Agadyr overhead electricity transmission line was shut down due to an emergency. This line is a part of the North-South electricity transmission, which is used to supply power to Zone South of the unified power system (UPS) of Kazakhstan.

The emergency automatics of KEGOC worked normally and did not affect the parallel operation of the UPS of Kazakhstan and the integrated power system of Central Asia.

The preliminary amount of load shedding caused by the operation of emergency automatics is 615.9 MW, including:

- 180 MW in Almaty oblast,

- 60 MW in Zhetysu oblast,

- 182 MW in Karaganda oblast,

- 13 MW in Ulytau oblast,

- 36.4 MW in Turkestan oblast,

- 144.5 MW in Zhambyl oblast.

At 15:59, the overhead line was put into operation, the power supply to consumers was restored.

The preliminary reason for the shutdown is a steppe fire.
