System operators of Kazakhstan and Russia held a joint dispatch control emergency response exercise

KEGOC participated in an international inter-system emergency response training of dispatchers at the System Operator's Personnel Training Centre in Moscow. The training participants practised joint actions of dispatchers to eliminate the disruption of normal parallel operation of the power systems of the two countries during the autumn-winter peak load period.

NES of Kyrgyzstan, Electric Stations (Kyrgyz Republic), National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan, National Dispatch Centre, and Energy Coordination Dispatch Centre (Republic of Uzbekistan), and representatives from these organisations participated as observers.

According to the training scenario, an accident occurred in 500 kV transmission networks connecting UES of Russia and UPS of Kazakhstan. The necessary measures were taken to eliminate the accident: inspection, testing and repair of damaged equipment. Generation reserves were used to restore frequency and eliminate overload in controlled sections in the separated part of the energy system.

According to Yevgeny Didorenko, Chief Dispatcher of the National Dispatch Centre of the System Operator (KEGOC), emergency response training helps to increase the dispatch control's dependability and safety.

"It assists in sharing best practises with colleagues from other regions and nations as well as in identifying gaps and improving the emergency prevention and control system, which is crucial to guaranteeing the dependability of Kazakhstan's UPS. We take great pride in the accomplishments our team has made in the area of emergency training. In order to improve and gain greater self-assurance in our skills, we will keep actively participating in events that foster our professional growth and development," he stated

For the first time, an international emergency response training was conducted to verify that the staff members of Kazakhstan's and Russia's dispatch centres were prepared to guarantee the consistent cooperative operation of their respective power systems.
