KEGOC Launches Women’s Energy Community “Energy Shuaqy”

KEGOC has announced the establishment of the Women’s Energy Community “Energy Shuagy” (literally “the radiance of energy”), bringing together all female employees of the company. The inaugural meeting took place on 24 September and marked an important milestone in KEGOC’s corporate life.

The new organization will serve as a platform for advancing gender equality initiatives, expanding women’s participation in corporate and industry affairs, and recognizing their contributions, including in production and technical professions. This is particularly relevant in the Year of Skilled Trades, which highlights the vital role of specialists engaged in core production processes.

“The company’s management supported the initiative to establish KEGOC’s women’s energy community. This demonstrates that KEGOC is an open company where employees feel socially protected and where women are empowered to promote their interests and unlock their potential,” said Aigul Akimbayeva, Managing Director for Economics and Finance at KEGOC.

Today, women at KEGOC are actively represented across all areas: they account for 74% of administrative and managerial staff, holding key management positions, while also working in engineering and technical roles traditionally regarded as male. Among operational staff, women make up 17%, including professions such as electricians, electromechanics, and laboratory technicians.

KEGOC has already developed a comprehensive system of social support for its employees, ensuring comfortable and safe working conditions, alongside professional development programs.

According to Elvira Konakhbaeva, Managing Director for Strategy and Sustainability, the creation of the Women’s Energy Community takes KEGOC’s work on supporting and promoting female professionals to a new, systemic and strategic level, making it part of both KEGOC’s corporate policy and Kazakhstan’s national gender equality agenda:

“Women at KEGOC are an active and cohesive part of the team. They work in a wide range of positions — from management to highly technical roles — and make a significant contribution to our shared mission. The establishment of the Women’s Community will enable us to systematically support professional growth and expand opportunities for personal development for our colleagues.”

The agenda of the first meeting included the election of the Executive Committee, discussion of the community’s name, review of survey results among female employees, and a workshop titled “Leadership in Action: The Power of Choice.” From the outset, the community has positioned itself as a dynamic and open forum for exchanging experience, ideas, and new approaches.
