Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company JSC (KEGOC), Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd. and Build Master Group LLP (Kazakhstan) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at developing and modernising Kazakhstan’s electricity transmission infrastructure.
The document provides for the exchange of technologies, knowledge and expertise, as well as joint development of projects in key areas:
- construction and renewal of power transmission lines and high-voltage substations;
- rollout of digital substations, intelligent grid-management systems and smart-grid solutions;
- attraction of investment and development of localisation in the electricity transmission sector;
- staff exchanges and training programmes.
“KEGOC is systematically implementing a programme to modernise the national transmission grid. Partnership with Shanghai Electric and Build Master Group will strengthen our technology base and accelerate the deployment of digital solutions at transmission facilities,” said Nabi Aitzhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of KEGOC.
Xiao Weihua, Vice President of Shanghai Electric, noted:
“We are ready to share our international expertise in high-voltage transmission and substation digitalisation, tailoring best practices to the needs of the Kazakhstani market.”
