KEGOC Youth Project ‘QR Code – A Step Towards a Digital Substation’ Named Among Top Industry Initiatives

On 19 December 2025 KEGOC participated in an industry forum organised by the Samruk-Kazyna Fund at Nazarbayev University in Astana to mark the conclusion of the Year of Skilled Trades. The event brought together approximately 1,000 participants, including government officials, heads of Fund companies, HR and safety experts, educational organisations, and representatives from youth and social initiatives.

Designed as a platform for open professional dialogue, the forum featured parallel thematic sessions, panel discussions, masterclasses, and an awards ceremony. Key discussions centred on human capital development, digital solutions in manufacturing, safety culture, and training qualified specialists for the real economy.

As part of the business programme, KEGOC representatives contributed to sessions on staff development, youth policy, and industrial safety. These areas remain strategic priorities for the company and are vital for the sustainable operation of the national energy grid.

A highlight of the closing ceremony was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between KEGOC, the Samruk-Kazyna Trust, and the Centre for Social Interaction and Communications under the ‘Samruk Unity’ social project. This initiative aims to support young people leaving care homes, assisting them with career choices and professional development.

A presentation of youth projects using the Pecha Kucha format attracted particular interest, offering concise and visual insights into practical initiatives implemented across the Samruk-Kazyna group. KEGOC employees showcased applied projects focused on digitalisation, safety, and employee well-being, including: ‘QR Code – A Step Towards a Digital Substation’: A project ensuring rapid access to technical equipment data; ‘AnyqQod’: a smart QR-tagging system for equipment and tools; ‘Pause for Life’: a project introducing workplace exercises into the daily routine.

Following an evaluation, the ‘QR Code – A Step Towards a Digital Substation’ project—developed by a youth team from the Sarbay and Southern MES branches—was selected as one of the top seven initiatives. It will now be eligible for further scaling under the ‘7 Qadam PRO’ programme in 2026.

These projects highlight the proactive approach of KEGOC’s young professionals, their engagement in developing working professions, and their drive to implement modern, technological, and safe solutions. KEGOC continues to support initiatives that develop human capital and foster a conscious safety culture, contributing to the future workforce of Kazakhstan’s energy industry.
