KEGOC held a summary meeting with the participation of heads of operating branches and Energoinform JSC, the subsidiary company. The meeting summarised the results of 2024 and defined the key areas of development for 2025.
Results of 2024: growth in performance and improvement of power system reliability
Nabi Aitzhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of KEGOC, noted that thanks to the well-coordinated work of the team, the company successfully completed 2024, demonstrating sustainable growth in both production and financial activities.
Key indicators:
✅ Electricity consumption in Kazakhstan increased by 4.3% (to 120 billion kWh), generation increased by 4.5% (to 117.9 billion kWh).
✅ Growth of KEGOC services:
- Electricity transmission via the national power grid (NPG) - 18.9 billion kWh (+1.2% above plan).
- Use of the NPG - 74.9 billion kWh (+1.8% above plan).
- Technical dispatching - 110.9 billion kWh.
- Balancing production and consumption - 210.2 billion kWh.
Despite the increased load, KEGOC ensured stable operation of the energy system, timely completed the repair campaign (over 500 facilities), and replenished the emergency stock of materials and spare parts.
Financial results and investment successes
The company's net profit totalled KZT 59.5 billion, which is 37.1% higher than in 2023.
Dividends to shareholders totalled KZT44.6 billion.
KEGOC’s credit ratings were upgraded to the sovereign level:
- Moody's - ‘BAA2’ (stable outlook).
- Fitch - ‘BBB’ (stable outlook).
- S&P Global CSA Score - ESG rating of 55/100.
KEGOC continues to implement major infrastructure projects, including strengthening the power grids in the south of the country and interconnecting the energy system of Western Kazakhstan with the unified power system (UPS). Agreements have been signed with the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC to finance these initiatives in 2024.
Social policy: enhancing employee welfare
KEGOC is a leader among Samruk-Kazyna companies in terms of industrial safety and social stability (87%). The Company has implemented a number of initiatives to improve the quality of life of its personnel:
- Increased wages of operating personnel, introduced additional incentives.
- 80% of the costs of vocational education are reimbursed by the company.
- The Best Labour Dynasties competition was organised.
Plans for 2025
KEGOC will continue to modernise the country's energy system and implement investment projects, including accelerated development of energy infrastructure.
Branch heads have been instructed to:
- Carry out repair works on time and with proper quality.
- Ensure implementation of the investment programme.
- Strengthen measures to ensure safety and reliability of the energy system.
- Continue improving corporate ratings and KPIs.
- Develop social support programmes for employees.
