Akmolinskiye MES

The Akmolinskiye MES Branch of KEGOC JSC was established in September 1997.


The head of the branch is Ramazan Dodeshev.

The core business of the branch is:

  • Transmit power and electricity through electric networks from substation busbars and power stations in the volumes and modes set by the National Control Center of the System Operator;
  • Prepare the optimal power system diagram in terms of reliability and efficiency.

Akmolinskiye MES (Astana) is headquartered in Akmola and North Kazakhstan region. The branch networks are an integral part of the Unified Energy System of Kazakhstan and are connected by intersystem power transmission lines with the networks of the branches Sarbaiskiye MES, Severnye MES and Tsentralnye MES, by interstate PTL with adjacent power-supply systems of the Russian Federation.

The power-supply systems of the branch transit electricity to the branches of "KEGOC" JSC Sarbaiskiye MES , Severnye MES and Tsentralnye MES, as well as to the adjacent power supply systems of the Russian Federation (Ural Interregional Control Office and Siberia Interregional Control Office).

The property of the branch includes overhead transmission lines in overhead clearance 10 – 1150 kV with total length 4230.431 km (circuits), and also 10 substations 220 – 1150 kV, with total capacity of 8136.6 MVA. 

Power sources: regional power plants (Akmola Heat Power Plant 2, Petropavlovsk HPP-2, Yereymentau Wind-Power Plant 1, Astana EXPO-2017 WPP, Nura SPP) and local power plants (Akmola HPP-1, Stepnogorsk HPP, Sergeyev Hydropower Plant, Zenchenko WPP, Golden Energy WPP, Krasniy Yar WPP, Borey WPP, EnergoTrust WPP, Vostok Veter WPP, Alcor Energy WPP, Arkalykskaya – 1 WPP, Arkalykskaya – 2 WPP, Yelikti WPP, Jasil Jel Energy-1 WPP, Jasil Jel Energy-2 WPP, Sofiyevskaya WPP, PF Elektrsetstroy WPP).

Aktyubinskiye MES

Aktyubinskiye MES branch of KEGOC was established in October 1997.


The head of the branch is Serik Tashubayev.

The core activities of the branch are:

  • Transmission of power and electricity in electric networks from the busbars of substations and electric power plants in the amount and in accordance with the operation modes specified by NDC SO;
  • Development of the optimal electric network topology in terms of reliability and efficiency.

The area of operations of Aktyubinskiye MES branch (Aktobe) cover Aktobe and West Kazakhstan oblasts and its networks are interconnected by 500 kV L-5740 Zhytikara-Ulke overhead line with Kazakhstan UPS. Ural energy region is connected to the electric networks of Zapadnye MES branch of KEGOC. There is no connection between the Aktobe and Ural energy regions.

Power sources:

  • Power plants Zone North of the UPS of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • Local power plants (Aktobe CHPP, AZF PP, Zhanazholskaya GTPP, GTPP-200, GTPP-KPK, UGTPP-54, Ural CHPP);
  • Power plants of Russia (reserve).

The property of the branch includes overhead transmission lines in overhead clearance 10 – 500 kV with total length 1216,874  km (circuits), and also 7 substations 220 – 500 kV, with total capacity of 2425,5 MVA.

Almatinskiye MES

Almatinskiye MES branch of KEGOC was established in September 1997.


Director of the branch is Arman Shaykhanov.

The main objectives of the Branch are:

Transmission of power and electricity in electric networks from the busbars of substations and electric power plants in the amount and in accordance with the operation modes specified by NDC SO;

Development of the optimal electric network topology in terms of reliability and efficiency.

The area of operations of Almatinskiye MES (Almaty) branch covers Almaty, Zhambyl, and Zhetysu oblasts. The branch networks are an integral part of the Kazakhstan UPS and are interconnected with the networks of Tsentralnye MES, Vostochnye MES and Yuzhnye MES branches, and with the power systems of Kyrgyzstan. Energy sources: local power plants (Almaty CHPP-1, Almaty CHPP-3 (GRES), Tekeli CHPP, cascade of Almaty HPPs, Antonovskaya HPP, Karatalskaya HPP, Uspenskaya HPP).

The property of the branch includes overhead transmission lines in overhead clearance 0.4 – 500 kV with total length 4216,900 km (circuits), and also 12 substations 35 – 500 kV, with total capacity of 4957,2 MVA.

Vostochnye MES

Vostochnye MES branch of KEGOC was established in December 1997.


Director of the branch is Kairat Urazhanov.

The main purpose of the branch is:

  • Activation transmission of electric power and electrical energy by electriс networks from substation busbars and electric stations in the determined capacity and modes that specified by National Dispatching Center of Systematic Operator;
  • Formation of the optimal scheme of electrical networks from the point of view of reliability and economy.

Vostochnye MES (Ust’-Kamenogorsk) is located in East Kazakhstan, end Abai region. The networks of the branch are an integral part of the Unital Energetic System of Kazakhstan and are connected by inter-system power lines with the electric networks of branches Sarbaiskiye MES,  Almatinskiye MES, interstate power lines with the electric grid enterprise of the Russian Federation.

Power sources: hydroelectric power plants of national importance (Bukhtarma Hydro Power Plant, Ust-Kamenogorsk HPP, Shulba HPP), power plants of regional importance (Ust-Kamenogorsk Central Heating Power Plant) and power plants of local importance (Ridder CHPP, Sogra CHPP, Semipalatinsk CHPP PP, Tishinka HPP, Khariuzov HPP, Ulba HPP, Zaisan HPP, Turgusun HPP). As well as stations from renewable energy sources (Abai 1 WPS, Abai 2 WPS, Zhangiz-Solar SРР, Zhangiz-Tobe WPS).

The property of the branch includes overhead transmission lines in overhead clearance 0.4 – 500 kV with total length 1974,590 km (circuits), and also 7 substations 220 – 500 kV, with total capacity of 4362.5MVA.

Zapadnye MES

The Zapadnye MES branch of JSC "KEGOС" Western Intersystem Electric Networks was established in July 1998.


The head of the branch is Konstantin Chernokhaev.

The main goal of the branch is:

  • Transmission of power and electricity through electric networks from the buses of substations and power stations in the established volumes and modes set by the NDC SO (National Dispatch Centre of the System Operator);
  • Formation of the optimal scheme of electrical networks in terms of reliability and efficiency.

Zapadnye ME (Atyrau city) are located in Atyrau and Mangistau regions and are not connected with the UES of Kazakhstan. Power sources: Mangystau nuclear power plant (MAEK), which includes Aktau CHPP-1, CHPP-2 and TPP-3, regional power plant - Atyrau CHPP, power plants of industrial complexes TCO (GTEP-1, 2, 3), NCOC Kashagan, CHP of Atyrau Oil Refinery JSC, GPPP of KazAzot JSC, Kalamkas GTEP Mangistaumunaigaz, KUS (Karabatan Utility Solutions), renewable energy sources SPP Group Independet, WPP Fort Shevchenko, WPP Vetroenergotechnologii, WPP Taiman, WPP Service, WPP Zhangiz, , Zhanaozen GPPP of OzenMunaiProm LLP.

The property of the branch includes overhead transmission lines in overhead clearance 6 – 330 kV with total length 2 281,069 km (circuits), and also 7 substations 220 kV, with total capacity of 1450 MVA.

The core activities of the branch are:

Transmission of power and electricity in electric networks from the busbars of substations and electric power plants in the amount and in accordance with the operation modes specified by NDC SO;

Development of the optimal electric network topology in terms of reliability and efficiency.

The ara of operations of Sarbaiskiye MES (Rudny) branch covers Kostanay oblast. The branch networks are an integral part of the Kazakhstan UPS and are interconnected with the networks of Akmolinskiye MES branch and with the power systems of Russia.

Energy sources: local power plants (Rudnensk, Kostanay, and Arkalyk CHPPs).

The property of the branch includes overhead transmission lines in overhead clearance 6 – 1150 kV with total length 2 440,222 km (circuits), and also 8 substations 220 – 1150 kV, with total capacity of 6569,9 MVA.

Severnye MES

Severnye MES branch of KEGOC was established in September 1997.


The head of the branch is Azamat Amrenov. 

The main goal of the branch is to provide system services in the area of ​​operational management and maintenance of the Branch.

The area of operations of Severnye MES (Ekibastuz) covers Pavlodar oblast. The branch networks are an integral part of the Kazakhstan UPS and are interconnected with the networks of the Vostochnye MES, Akmolinskiye MES and Tsentralnye MES branches, and with the power systems of Russia.

Power sources:

1. power plants of the national importance:

  • Aksusskaya GRES, EEC Corporation Power Plant JSC; 
  • Ekibastuz GRES-1 named after B. Nurzhanov" (Ekibastuz GRES-1); 
  • Ekibastuz GRES-2 JSC;

2. power plants of the regional importance:

  • PAVLODARENERGO JSC: Pavlodar CHPP-3, Pavlodar CHPP-2;
  • Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC: Pavlodar CHPP-1;

3. power plants of the local importance:

  • PAVLODARENERGO JSC: Ekibastuz CHPP.

Tsentralnye MES

The Tsentralnye MES branch of KEGOC JSC has been found in 1997.


The head of the branch is Kairat Karakesekov.

The main objectives of the branch are:

  • Transmit electric power and energy through electricity networks from the busses of substations and power stations in the fixed volumes and conditions given by the NDC SO;
  • Prepare optimal scheme of electricity grids in terms of reliability and economy.

Tsentralnye MES branch (Karaganda) is located in Karaganda region. The branch’s grids are parts of Kazakhstan EEC (European Economic Community) and connected by the intersystem PTL (Power Transmission Line) with the next branch’s electricity grids: Akmolinskiye MES, Severnye MES, Almatinskiye MES, Yuzhnye MES.

Power suppliers:  powers stations of national value (Karagandy GRES-2), regional value (Karagandy GRES -1 and Karagandy TPP-3 (Turbine Power Plants), Zhezkasgan and Balhash TPP, powers stations of local value (Karagandy TPP-1, Karagandy TPP-2 , JSC “Arcelor Metal Temirtau”,   “Shahtinskteploenergo”  , GTES “Kumkol”, GTES “Akshabulak”, solar power stations “Saran”, “Gulshat”, “Agadyr-1”, “Agadyr-2”, “Kengir”).

The property of the branch includes overhead transmission lines in overhead clearance 10 – 500 kV with total length 3496,690 km (circuits), and also 10 substations 220 – 500 kV, with installed capacity of 3741.6 MVA.

Yuzhnye MES

Yuzhnye MES branch of KEGOC was established in September 1997.


The head of the branch is Kanat Ayapbergenov.

The main purpose of activities of the branch is:

  • To transmit capacity and electricity in the networks from busbars of substations and power plants in volumes and in accordance with the operation modes set by NDC SO;
  • Develop and maintain the optimal scheme of electrical networks in terms of reliability and efficiency.

Yuzhnye MES (Shymkent) are located in Zhambyl, Turkestan and Kyzylorda oblasts. The branch networks are an integral part of the Kazakhstan UPS and are interconnected by transmission lines with the electric networks of the Tsentralnye MES and Akmolinskiye MES branches; and by interstate transmission lines with electric grid enterprises of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

The electric networks of the branch of the Kazakhstan UPS is used to maintain parallel operation with the IPS of Central Asia.
