Moody’s rating agency has published a credit report and confirmed the rating of KEGOC at the level of “Baa2” with a “Stable” outlook.

KEGOC hosted an off-site meeting of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the participation of representatives of leading energy organizations. The meeting summarized the results of the Unified Electric Power System (UPS) work for 2022.

At the meeting, market participants discussed a variety of industry-related issues as well as solutions to accumulated problems.

The Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of KEGOC approved the new revision of KEGOC’s Charter.

The changes in the main document relate to the extension of the powers of the general meeting of shareholders, as well as some issues concerning the organisation of the work of the company’s board of directors and management board.

Employees of KEGOC took part in emergency recovery operations to eliminate emergencies in the city of Ekibastuz.

The extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of KEGOC was held, at which the semi-annual financial statements of KEGOC for 2022 were approved including a decision to pay dividends, and the amount of the dividend per one ordinary share of KEGOC.

In accordance with the approved financial statements, the company’s consolidated net income for the first half of 2022 amounted to KZT 14 billion. The total amount of dividends payable will be KZT 17 billion, including KZT 3 billion of retained earnings of previous periods.

Thus, KEGOC allocated 120% of net profit for payment, which will amount to KZT 65.44 per share

21 October

KEGOC held first heal and safety forum. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, managers and experts in the field of HSE (Health Safety Environment) of Samruk-Kazyna and companies included in its structure, KEGOC, as well as representatives of companies from the CIS countries.

13th October

The Committee for Nuclear and Energy Supervision and Control of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan issued KEGOC a certificate of readiness for operation in 2022-2023 autumn-winter period.

KEGOC early fully repaid a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of USD 46.3 million. Loan funds in the amount of USD 71.4 million were raised in 2010 for the implementation Alma Electricity Transmission Project, for a period of 25 years.

13 September

KEGOC issued the first “green” bonds. The funds will be used to carry out the company’s projects related to the construction of network infrastructure required for large-scale penetration of renewable energy sources in the energy balance, ensuring the country’s energy security, and increasing the efficiency of electricity transmission.

The issue amounted to KZT 35 billion of 35 million coupon bonds without collateral, with a face value of KZT 1,000 per piece.

S&P Global Ratings affirmed KEGOC’s rating at “BB+”, revising the outlook from “stable” to “negative” following a similar change in the outlook for the sovereign rating of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A new 220 kV Ortalyk substation was commissioned. The substation was completed as part of the project KEGOC’s “Turkestan External Power Supply Reinforcement Project. Construction of Power Grid Facilities’.

KEGOC held public hearings to report performance of the approved tariff estimates, the approved investment programme, compliance with the quality and reliability standards of regulated services and the achievement of performance targets of a natural monopoly in H1 2022 to consumers and other interested parties.

An extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of KEGOC was held in the format of absentee voting, at which a decision was made to early terminate the powers of Zhanbota Bekenov, a member of the Board of Directors, an independent director of KEGOC. Damir Suentaev was elected to the vacancy of a member of the Board of Directors of KEGOC, an independent director, with the term of office until the expiration of the powers of the Board of Directors of KEGOC.

The public council of Samruk-Kazyna heard information about KEGOC’s operations. Participants in the meeting became acquainted with the previous year’s performance, the progress of implementation of strategic indicators and investment projects. Members of the public council were also provided with information about the operation of Energotekhprofsoyuz, the trade union, compliance functions, and other areas.

KEGOC held an annual General Meeting of Shareholders to approved the KEGOC’s annual financial statements for 2021. According to the statements the net income of the Company amounted to KZT 52.6 billion.

It was decided to pay dividends for the second half of 2021 in the amount of KZT 13.2 billion, which, per ordinary share, will amount to KZT 50.85 (fifty tenge 85 tiyn).

KEGOC won the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) annual competition and received a diploma as a company demonstrating the best examples of business behavior in the securities market in terms of disclosing information about itself and its activities.

In addition, the Company’s Annual Report placed fourth out of 94 reports from Kazakhstani and foreign companies in PwC Kazakhstan’s Information Disclosure Rating, earning the Diploma “Best Practice in ESG Disclosure.”

1 February

As part of the practical implementation of the Action Plan in pursuance of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the issues of reforming Samruk-Kazyna JSC, from February 1, KEGOC JSC increased salaries and remuneartion rates of personnel. At the same time, the size of the quarterly bonus has also been increased, due to which the total annual income in 2022 will increase: by 28% -48% for operational personnel, by 15% -36% for engineering and technical personnel, and by 10% - 15% for middle managers and executives.

Financial Settlement Centre for Renewable Energy Sources Support, the subsidiary of KEGOC was alienated by gratuitous transfer to the state ownership of 100% of the stock owned by KEGOC.

KEGOC paid interest on the first coupon period on bonds of the first issue within the second bond program of KEGOC (ISIN KZ2С00006658, KASE main market, category “bonds”, KEGCb3) on December 09, 2020. The total amount of coupon interest paid was 533,500,000.00 (five hundred thirty-three million five hundred thousand) tenge 00 tiyn, coupon yield - 11.0% (eleven) percent per annum.

KEGOC paid dividends on common shares of KEGOC for the first half of 2020. The total amount of funds allocated for the payment of dividends amounted to 20 billion tenge, or 77.09 tenge per ordinary share.

7 September

KEGOC paid the author's fee in the amount of 5 million tenge. For the first time in the history of the Company such amount of remuneration was received by the employees of the Vostochnye MES branch A. Zapolsky, A. Ivanov and E. Tastanbekov. The introduction of their rationalization proposal into production allowed the company to obtain an economic effect in the amount of more than 51 million tenge.

KEGOC paid interest on the third coupon period on bonds of the second issue within the first bond program of KEGOC (NIN KZP02Y15F289, ISIN KZ2C00003978, KASE main market, "bonds" category, KEGCb2). The total amount of paid coupon interest amounted to 4.1 billion, coupon yield - 11.5% per annum.

The Company implemented the instructions of the Head of state relating to reinforcement of the capital power region. Installation of new autotransformer was finished at 500 kV TsGPP SS; Astana capacity reserves increased by 25 % - to 500 MVA.  On 20 October the autotransformer was energised.

Under the Moinak Electricity Transmission Project, new section of 220 kV overhead lines connected the hydroelectric power plant with Kazakhstan UPS and consumers in the southern power region.

Loan agreement was signed with the EBRD within the Ossakarovka Transmission Rehabilitation Project to the amount of USD 156 million, including the finds for rehabilitation of 220 kV OHTL amounting to USD 14.8 million, and the rest part purposed for refinancing the previous EBRD and DBK loans.

On 17 September, official ceremony marking the commissioning of section of 500 kV OHTL Ekibastuz-Agadyr took place at 1150 kV Ekibastuzskaya SS with participation of the Head of the state Nursultan Nazarbayev.  The transmission line was accepted for commercial operation with taking-over certificate approved by order No. 327 of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources dated 04 December 2009.

This megaproject included construction of 1096 km of 500 kV overhead lines; the capacity of the power bridge linking the North and the South of Kazakhstan doubled to 1350 MW.

500 kV OHTL Agadyr-YuKGRES (the third phase of the Project 'Construction of 500 kV Second Transmission Line of Kazakhstan North-South Transit) was successfully commissioned with participation of Karim Massimov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  The transmission line was accepted for commercial operation with taking-over certificate approved by order No. 243 of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources dated 10 September 2009.

On 17 December, 500 kV OHTL Northern Kazakhstan - Aktobe oblast was energized at Ulke SS. 500 kV OHTL Zhitikara-Ulke was commissioned with taking-over certificate approved by order No. 359 of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources dated 31December 2009.

The Corporate Governance Code was approved by the decision of the Sole shareholder.

22 October

The official ceremony marking the commissioning of 500 kV OHTL YuKGRES - Shu took place at 500 kV Shu SS (Zhambyl oblast).  The first phase of the Construction of 500 kV Second Transmission Line of Kazakhstan North-South Transit was successfully finished.  The transmission line was accepted for commercial operation with taking-over certificate approved by order No. 298 of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources dated 03 December 2008.

In Atyrau, during the meeting of the Council of foreign investors, the Company entered into a Loan agreement with the EBRD for unsecured loan amounting to Euro 255 million to fund the Kazakhstan Electricity Transmission Rehabilitation Project, Phase II.

22 December

Relocation of the National Dispatch Centre from Almaty to Astana (the capital of Kazakhstan) was complete.  New supervisory control centre was presented to foreign guests, participants of CIS Electric Power Council.

As a part of implementation of the Kazakhstan Electricity Transmission Rehabilitation Project, SCADA/EMS was put into operation.

Analogue communication networks were replaced with digital communication networks within the Kazakhstan Electricity Transmission Rehabilitation Project, Phase I (branch exchange, Radio Relay Communication, PLC)

6 September, Ulke Substation

The Head of the state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, launched the construction of 500 kV inter-regional power transmission line North Kazakhstan - Aktobe oblast.  This public-private partnership project was implemented with Batys Tranzit JSC; 20% of shares of the concessioner are owned by KEGOC.

In pursuance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the state share was transferred to Samruk JSC (the Kazakhstan holding company for management of public assets) as a payment for the placed shares.

The Company signed Loan agreements with the IBRD, the EBRD and the DBK within the Project for 'Construction of 500 kV Second Transmission Line of Kazakhstan North-South Transit' to the amount of USD 187.8 million and KZT 6,970.1 million.

Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) joint stock company was founded based on the asset portfolio of KazakhstanEnergo National Holding within structural reforms in the power system management in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
