VASILIY KUZNETSOV

Vasiliy Kuznetsov was born on 29 July 1925 in Luzgarino village, Shatur region in Moscow oblast.

In June 1943, he was called up to join the Soviet Army, the Moscow machine gun and mortar school.

In June 1944, he graduated from the Moscow machine gun and mortar school in the rank of junior lieutenant and was sent to the Belorussian front.

When the war started, Vasiliy Kuznetsov was in Brest city and had the rank of mortar platoon commander, later became the commander of a submachine gun platoon.

On 28 January 1945 he was seriously wounded and contused in an action near the Konigsberg city. By 25 May 1945, he was under medical treatment in a hospital.

For his participation in actions during the Great Patriotic War Vasiliy Kuznetsov was awarded:

  • Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st class,
  • Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd class,
  • Medal for Valour and Bravery and many other medals.

In 1947, he started his labour activity in Moscow with union installation trust TsentroEnergoMontazh. Starting as the assistant to the foreman, he further promoted to foreman, senior foreman and supervisor.

From 8 January 1952 to 27 April 1987 he worked in KaragandaEnergo, in the Central Dispatch Service at the following positions: dispatcher, senior dispatcher, and chief dispatcher. The Central Dispatch Service in Karaganda city was established with his direct participation and under his management.

From 5 April 1987 and till his retirement on 22 July 1996, he worked as an instructor in the training centre of KaragandaEnergo.

During his labour activity he got different awards:

  • Medal for Labour Valour
  • Medal for Dedicated Work
  • Badge of Honour
  • Medal ‘Labour Veteran’
  • Anniversary Medal ‘60th Anniversary of State Committee for Electrification of Russia’
  • Award pin ‘Best worker in power and electrification industry of USSR’, 22 December 1976
  • Badge of Honour ‘40th Anniversary of Unified Power System’, 20 August 1996
  • Title of an Honoured Power Engineer of CIS, in 2006
  • On 29 April 2009, for his merit for the Motherland during the Great Patriotic War and great contribution to the development of power industry of Karaganda city, he was awarded the title of an Honorary Freeman of Karaganda city.
