SOVETKHAN NURPEISSOV

Sovetkhan Nurpeissov was born on 20 July 1936 in the village of Georgiyevka, Zharminsk Region, Semipalatinsk Oblast.

In 1960, Sovetkhan Nurpeissov graduated from the Central Asian Polytechnic Institute (Tashkent), energy department majoring in Electric Networks, Systems and Substations and got qualification of Electrical Engineer.

From 1960 to 1967, he worked as head of equipment repair division in group of substations of 35-220 kV high voltage network area at Semipalatinsk Electric Networks Office, AltayEnergo REB (regional electricity board).

In 1967-1970, he held the positions of head of Relay Automation and Teleautomatics Service, Almaty Electric Networks Office, AlmatyEnergo REB, senior specialist for electric networks operation, General Energy Office under the Ministry of Energy and Electrification in Kazakh SSR.

In 1970-1979, he worked as director of Taldykorgan Lead Battery Plant, Ministry of Electrical Engineering Industry in the USSR; from 1979 to 1983, he was first secretary of Taldykorgan party committee; in 1983-1987s, he was second secretary of Tselinograd party committee; in 1987- 1989, he worked as secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet in Kazakh SSR.

From 1989, he was Deputy Minister of Energy and Electrcification in Kazakh SSR.

From 1995, Sovetkhan Nurpeissov was a representative of Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry in CIS Energy Council.

Currently, he is a chairman of Council of veteran power engineers in Kazakhstan. Sovetkhan Nurpeissov was elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet in Kazakh SSR of two (9th -10th) callings. He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, Certificate of Merit from the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Kazakh SSR, and many other medals. He was awarded a title of Deserved Power Engineer in the CIS. He is a honorary citizen in Taldykorgan (2006).

He was a participant of labour front equated with participant of the Great Patriotic War.
